How do you research Christmas gift pack designs half way through the year during some unusually hot weather?
Never one to shy away from a challenge, we went all out to re-create Christmas of course!
We believed that by making Christmas a tangible theme for participants, it would maximise effectiveness of the research.
To do this we asked everyone to fill in a Christmas Scrap Book. This covered everything from planning Christmas shopping, to reviews on favourite & least favourite presents received, to thoughts on giving and receiving Christmas gift sets. Outputs from this enabled us to frame design response within a relevant seasonal shopping and gifting context.
In addition we went all out to ensure participants were in a festive frame of mind by decking out the studios with Christmas paraphernalia, this involved hanging baubles and snowflakes to playing festive music and offering mince pies! This was really effective in setting the required context to discuss Christmas gifting.
